Israel’s Maya Johanna: When The Sky

It’s about time we featured Maya Johanna here. Much of the stuff we’ve seen from Maya in the past was made up of covers of 60s songs. She always showed promise but we were always left a tad underwhelmed. Then suddenly, she released an original album, Bells in Our Stomachs with lyrics, music and lead vocals by Johanna. We were indeed impressed. Usually we’re not so big into neo-hippie music but Maya’s heartfelt singing, poignant lyrics and infectious smile and attitude won us over. I’ve listened to “When The Sky” at least 100 times now, both the featured original version as well as the Balcony TV version below:
