High Priests Bless the Jews
This video features Birkat Kohanim, or the Priestly Blessing that took place at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Descendants of the first High Priest, Aaaron (Moses’ brother) gather at the foot of the Western Wall in order to bless the assembled and all of Israel and the Jews. In this case, it took place during the holiday of Sukkot – also known as the Feast of the Tabernacles – or, as I like to call it, the hut holiday! Because we all build these little huts and live and eat in them during the course of the holiday. It’s big fun.
Anyway… back to Birkat Hakohanim, this video provides a translation and a transliteration so that you can follow along at home, joining the nearly 100,000 people in attendance this year. Yes, this is what 100,000 Jews looks like. Pretty crazy, eh?
